I painted these trees from a picture I took at the base of the Lion's Head hike at sunrise one morning as I got down from a hike. The wind was blowing and the light was warm. It made for a beautiful day.

Hiking up and down Lion's Head has been such a source of perspective, healing, fresh air and joy for me over the years that I have lived in Cape Town. I painted the view from the path coming back down from the summit in the morning as the sunrise hits Table mountian.

I went hiking up Table Mountain with a fellow nature-friend. The plants were glowing. I painted this from one of my photographs. This is the first painting I painted in 20 years. The beginning of something new.
This plant has welcomed me into my mother's apartment block for years and I felt that it deserved to be remembered. Always warm and welcoming. Consistently there.
I feel we often overlook the beautiful creatures that hold space for us along the way. This is a bit of an ode to that friendly plant.
