Artist in Provence
I remember at age 16 sitting on a rooftop terrace in Bonnieux with my parents drinking a glass of rosé while watching the colours change over the Luberon Valley as the sun made its way closer towards the horizon. My heart was exploding with joy at the beauty around me. Old tiled roofs staggered down below, a scattering of magnificent old villages sparkling across the valley like jewels and the two humans who had made my life possible sharing the gift of exploration with me.
It was on that evening that I decided that I would one day live in Provence and earn a living as an artist.
In 2014 my father took his last breath and I was reminded of how fragile life is. I was gifted a reminder that if I wasn’t going to make my dreams happen, I would become one of the many who lie on their deathbeds with regrets around the things they didn’t do.
In 2014 I hopped on a plane bound for Marseille and so my journey towards this dream began. It took me a little while to make it happen… Underlying conditioning and beliefs served as hurdles as did a thirst for exploration and adventure, an illustration business that I needed to cut loose and French bureaucracy.
I live in a small town/ big village called l’Isle sur la Sorgue. The story of how I ended up here is long but in a nutshell just the right amount of hurdles and luck lead me here. I live in a small three-story house which I like to refer to as my little chateau. In 2021 I transformed my garage into an atelier/ art studio and that’s where I work in the summer months. In the winter I work in my sunny living room.
My work is primary oil painting on canvas board, board or canvas. I love working with Indian ink and watercolour too. I occasionally collaborate with friends on print-runs and don’t often leave the house without my little notebook and ink-brush.
Welcome to my website. This space serves as a reference for work I have done. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like me to send you an updated pdf of available works. Some of my pieces sell directly from the atelier which means that the updated pdf may take a moment to send.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Thanks for popping by.
