In the summer of 2021 the artist went on a spontaneous adventure to the Sainte Baume in the south of France. "Sainte Baume" translates to Sacred Cave. The cave is said to be the place where Mary Magdalene resided for the last 30 years of her life.

Having heard of the magnificence of the hikes around the massif, the artist and a friend packed bags, booked accommodation and hit the road.

The forest at the base of the Massif of Sainte Baume, has been beautifully preserved/protected and therefore "carries a luminosity and presence unlike any other”.

In 2021 two paintings were inspired by this immersion in the Sainte Baume forest. A resulting fascination with Mary Magdalene’s story and a continuous love-affair with this forest have lead Buisson to create a body of work for an exhibition later this year. A current work in progress. The location of the exhibition is yet to be determined.
