Barroux landscape

from €12.00

When Covid had the world locked down in 2020, I was in Provence. For years I had been guiding luxury cycling trips around Europe in the European summers and every year I would sit on my bicycle saddle explaining the world of grape-harvest to the travellers on our trips. This year, however, there were no trips and yet grapes needed harvesting.

I had been dreaming about participating in a grape harvest while living gin France and this was my opportunity. I reached out to Even, a Norwegian/ American wine-maker who has his own domain, Clos de Trias, in the Ventoux region, 45 minutes from my village.

As chance would have it (for me, maybe not so much for him…) he was in desperate need of hands as the usual crew of friends and family that came to assist annually were not allowed to cross borders.

So I got to know the area around his Village, le Barroux. Of course I explored hiking trails around the winery and discovered the most magical views overlooking the valley behind the village. We sat watching the sunset one evening when we walked a little loop with his son and I captured it with my phone and could not forget the beauty of it until I got it down in oil paints.

The original artwork lives with its patron in Canada.
