Le Beaucet

from €12.00

My pal, Valentine, and I developed a little habit of checking in with each other when summer came around (when he was more likely to be in France and not the UK) to see whether we could meet for little plain-air (outdoor) painting excursions in the blistering heat of the Provençale summer. Valentine’s parents own a magnificent winery, Chateau Unang, in Malemort du Combat and we met through mutual friends a few years prior.

Valentine’s home was a little stretch from mine and it made for a fun exercise to look at a map, pick a village to meet in and then to scout a good sunrise or sunset spot to paint from.

On this fine evening, we picked Le Beaucet, a beautiful little village perched on a rocky outcrop. Valentine taught me a good few things about plain air painting and I hope to continue to meet him for our painting excursions in the future.
